In today’s busy world, techonlogy has become an integral part of modern society, and its impact on our daily life has been widely debated. Some people argue that this advancement helps reduce criminal rates, while others believe that it creates new opportunities for crime. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, many people believe that technology plays a crucial role in decreasing crime rates. One major reason is that the development of advanced security systems. Modern cameras can directly observe facial recognition, allow authorities to monitor public spaces more effectively and respond quickly to suspicious activities. For instance, countries such as London and China, frequently provide a plethora of cameras in various areas, which mitigate the street crimes, and assist polices to find a wanted criminal. Moreover, digital identifying DNA systems are also vital in improving the accuracy of investigations, ensuring that criminals are arrested more productively and more precisely. In addition, they can support international authorities in communication, making it easier for them to plan an efficient way to catch global criminals.
On the other hand, some argue that technological development has encouraged crime by creating new forms of illegal activities. Cybercrime is a clear example, with the rise of the Internet and digital devices, comtemporary criminals, such as online frauds, identity theft, or hackers, just need a little effort to briefly complete their guilty activities. This makes catching those criminals a tough nut to crack as they are difficult to detect, and can cause significantly financial loss to individuals or companies. Furthermore, technology offers tools for criminals to create illegal apps that play as a bank to hold their “dirty money”. This can considerably damage on country’s economic growth by forcing the inflation.
From my perspective, although technology introduces new risks, its benefits in crime prevention completely outweigh the drawbacks. The key depends on how the public use technology. When using properly and responsibly, technological tools can increase social safety.
In conclusion, while technology may encourage certain types of modern crime, its overall influence on reducing crime is more significant. Thus, I strongly believe that this development may provide a safer community if technology is mananged correctly.
