A myriad of people argue that it is better to spend money on the advancement of the human population instead of animal welfare. My contention is that both views have merits. Therefore, I partially agree with the statement because animals are essential for maintaining a safe ecological system.
On the one hand, many people state that government bodies should allocate funds to animal welfare sectors, such as the conservation of biodiversity, preventing animal exploitation, and maintaining ecosystem balance. Numerous animals are used in food production, basic research, and the production of cosmetic chemicals. For instance, recent studies conducted by experts globally indicate that more than 70% of animals are endangered and at risk of extinction. Animals also have the right to safety and protection from exploitation.
On the other hand, a significant number of people believe that authorities should invest money in human welfare instead of animal welfare because of issues like unemployment, poverty, and lack of education. Additionally, poor infrastructure, such as traffic issues, water scarcity, and improper waste disposal practices, exacerbates these problems. A recent survey revealed that many nations are underdeveloped due to poor economic stability. As a result, a large portion of the population suffers from health and communicable disease issues, which the government should address by investing appropriately.
In summary, global financial stability is crucial for the development of both animal and human life because both sectors face significant challenges, such as exploitation, habitat destruction, health concerns, and poor infrastructure. Therefore, my opinion is that both animals and humans need equal financial support from government bodies to maintain a balanced ecosystem.
