Band 6+: Some people think that all lawbreakers should be taken into prison. In contrast, others believe there are better alternatives (for example, doing work or learning skills in the community). Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In this day and age, many individuals believe that all offenders should be sent to prison. Meanwhile, other citizens argue that unpaid community works are better substitute for those prisoners commit minor crimes but other options will also be considered for the better world.

People who break laws are accountable for the crimes that they have committed and putting them in prison is one of the punishments that they need to be considered because imprisonment helps maintain rules and regulations of the society. Moreover, it will also give justice for those families who mourns for the victims and also protects the wider community. For instance, individuals convicted of serious violent offences may receive substantial prison terms, which not only reflected the gravity of the crime but also send clear message that such behavior carries serious consequences. Therefore, imprisonment remains a justified response to major criminal offences because it can uphold law and order while reducing the risk of further harm to society.

However, there are still better alternatives for those lawbreakers who commits minor crimes. Rather than imposing heavy fines and jail sentence, legal providers could require such offenders to undertake community services, allowing them to make amends for their wrongdoing while remaining integrated into society. This approach can be particularly beneficial because imprisonment may expose minor offenders to more serious criminals and disrupt their employment and family life, potentially making reintegration into society more difficult after release. For example, someone covicted of minor property damage could be required to repair public facilities or participate in local improvement projects.

In conclusion, those two ways of punishment are essential for different kind of crimes. I believe that minor and major offenders are both accountable for breaking the laws.
