In the contemporary era, it is said that air pollution is the major contributor to climate change and other environmental issues. Many are of the belief that this problem can be solved by organizing international car-free days in countries around the world, while others argue there are additional ways to do so. Although I personally agree with the latter point, this essay will discuss both views of this statement.
Advocates of having a car-free day believe that it is an effective solution for a number of reasons. First and foremost, car exhaust is the largest contributor to air pollution; therefore, organizing some days without cars can lessen the amount of exhaust fumes, such as carbon dioxide, to be released into the atmosphere. To elucidate, residents are encouraged to use other transportation methods instead of private means of transport to reduce the adverse effects of air pollution and improve air quality. Another significant reason why people support this solution is that having this event can heighten people’s awareness of using environmentally friendly vehicles. For example, people in several nations have stopped using private transport in their everyday lives since this car-free policy was introduced.
Conversely, many people argue that there are numerous efficient options to discharge air pollution. The first considerable method can be attributed to implanting trees. To exemplify, trees consume carbon dioxide emissions, which are harmful substances to the environment, therefore, this method helps shorten the air pollution issues all over the world. Another effective option is to expand the use of electric vehicles, which are considered to be more eco-friendly than other means of transport. For instance, in Vietnam, the government and corporate companies have produced electric vehicles with the desire to reduce gas emissions and create a cleaner living environment, which is also a better way to curb the problem.
