Fundraising events have become one of the most popular ways of raising money for philanthropic causes. They increase awareness, spread a message quickly, and have the ability to aid many individuals. However, most can not agree on whether such organizations should assist only locals or everyone around the globe. In my opinion, everybody deserves humanitarian help, as suffering is a universal experience.
Those who believe that charity should only support people of their own country often follow nationalistic thoughts, meaning they would rather aid someone of their community, rather than an unknown person. They place their country as the priority, focusing on making life inside the nation finer.
Others, on the other hand, are certain that providing foreign altruistic assistance to everyone around the globe can promote peace, global stability, and reduce conflict and poverty. The aid is a life-or-death matter for a lot of countries, and thus prevents many from starvation, provides healthcare, and evacuation from natural disasters, thus counteracting the threats of disease, bad governance, and conflict grown out of poverty.
I hold that people are in agony all around the world for many different reasons. Donations can ease some of the pain of people everywhere, and hence, should be sponsoring both internal and global problems, prioritizing the suffering individuals rather than the region of those.
To sum up, money is raised through social events for benevolent purposes, to help advertise peace, stability, and raise the quality of life both internally and externally. However, one may place their society above others, while the rest believe in international support. In my view, relief should be granted to the needy no matter where they currently reside.
