Band 6+: Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age. Others think they should begin at least 7 years old. To what extent you agree or disagree?

In recent years, there has been a growing debate about sending children to school in their early years or whether they should start school at a minimum age of 7 years. While some people believe that children education should be started immediately, others argue that children should be at least 7 years before they start learning. I agree with the view that children should join school/nursery during infancy.

One of the main reasons why I agree that joining nursery or school early in childhood is to facilitate smooth transition. This is because transition is a complex process. It takes considerable time for children adaptation and adjustment to the school environment. The children who attend nursery settings are more comfortable in further education settings such as school, compared to those students who did not join nursery. There is great difference between home to school transition and nursery to school transition. For instance, when child is being moving from play group to school seems more adjusted to the surroundings of school than those whose transition is taking place from home. As a result, younger graduates are more flexible and quick learners at the school.

In addition, there is a risk of dropouts for children when admitted directly to the school. This is due to the fact, for some children it is not easy to adapt to the school environment along with the learning process as it will be taking place at the same time. Consequently, such students abandon education often. For instance, in the urban areas people usually enroll their children by the age of 7 or 8 years and this is the reason for low literacy in the countryside. I believe nursery education is playing vital role in children education and parents must consider this before considering school. This highlights how important it is to admit children in the school settings when still they are babies. Therefore, it is clear that pre-school session must be adopted by the children before going school.

In conclusion, I would say that childhood age is critical factor in kids life and their education should be started as early as possible. Although there are many countries around the world where people don’t consider nursery education useful.
