A heated discussion takes place in deciding where the most appropriate place for humans to live is. While some specialists believe that life in large metropoles is more resourceful, others claim that the countryside offers superior quality of life. This essay will explore both sides of this dilemma and I wil give my opinion.
On one side of this debate, proponents for living in cities argue that they offer a more comfortable and prosperous lifestyle. First and foremost, metropolitan areas have a multitude of convenient spaces for entertainment, which leads to a more stimulant lifestyle when compared with a slow life in the countryside. As example of this argument, most cities have museums, live concerts, and restaurants that citizens can enjoy in their free time. Additionally, most of the society’s resources are concentrated in the large cities, which leads to better work and study opportunities. In big metropoles, individuals can expect higher wages and their children can attend the best available schools. For instance, the top universities in the world are located in large cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Beijing, and London.
On the other side of this discussion, those who live in the countryside say that life is more fullfilling and cheaper. To begin, proponents for living away from cities explain that they have better quality of life, as they live with less stressful life, less pollution, and in healthy contact with nature. For example, research has shown that population of small communities live longer lives and have better overall physical and metal health than their counterparts who live in crowded cities. Furthermore, life is much more affordable in the countryside when compared with the high cost of living in big cities. Consequently, individuals who live in farms can save more money and feel less peer pressure for consumerism. For example, a study in the United States showed that prices of renting, transportation and groceries is generally 25% cheaper in the countryside than in cities.
In conclusion, living in cities and in small towns have both benefits and drawbacks, and the best place to live depends on an individual’s personal condition. Those who are eager for comfort and work opportunities would find cities more appealing, whereas, individuals who prioritize quality of life ought to live better in the countryside.
