Nowadays, the environment is being damaged more and more. Some people believe that the environment needs protection from the government’s responsibility. Others say that every individual should be responsible for the environment. This essay will discuss both views and give my own opinion.
Some scientists argue that protecting the environment is the government’s responsibility. This is because the government has damaged the environment for its own profit. For example, the Amazon forest and the Aral sea are reduced significantly over time due to the environment. Approximately 82% of the Amazon forest remains, and about 10% of the Aral Sea remains at the moment. In fact, these factors lead to climate change. However, many governments prefer industrial development. It causes governments to exploit many natural resources. If governments overuse natural resources, the proportion of natural resources will decrease significantly or they may become extinct.
On the other hand, every individual should be responsible for protecting the environment. This is because every individual is connected with the environment. Animals and people use plants for food, clothing and other purposes. Animals produce carbon dioxide which plants use during photosynthesis, while people cultivate and grow various plants. Plants, animals and people are part of the environment. However, the proportion of people who litter is about 20%. It leads to air pollution. For instance, the capital of Uzbekistan is among the top 5 most polluted cities in terms of air pollution. Everyone should protect the environment.
In conclusion, although governments have the power, resources and authority to implement large-scale environmental protection policies, individuals also play a crucial role in preserving nature through their everyday actions. Effective environmental protection can only be achieved when both the government and citizens take responsibility and work together. Therefore, I believe that a combination of governmental regulation and individual awareness is the most effective way to protect our environment.
