Children’s development is influenced by many factors. Some people believe that family has the strongest impact, while others argue that external factors like friends and media are more important. This essay will discuss both views and give my own opinion.
On the one hand, family plays a vital role in shaping a child’s behavior and personality. Parents teach their children moral values such as respecting others and distinguishing right from wrong. For example, children who grow up in a disciplined family often become more self-controlled and responsible. Moreover, parents are role models, and children tend to imitate their habits and actions from a young age.
On the other hand, outside influences such as friends and television can also affect children’s development. For instance, if a child has disciplined parents but spends time with friends from troubled families, he may adopt negative behaviors. Additionally, many children watch violent movies or play aggressive video games, which can lead to bad habits. This shows that external factors can sometimes be stronger than family influence.
In my opinion, family has the most powerful influence because parents are the first teachers in a child’s life. However, they should also monitor their children’s social environment and media consumption to prevent negative effects.
