A number of people believe that the key of success in sports is athlete’s physical condition such as fit and strong, while others think that the success rely on mental attitude. In this essay, I will discuss both sides and give my personal opinion as the conclusion.
On one side, a group of people consider that physical aspects are more essential for individuals to achieve a great performance in sports compared to the mental condition due to the fact that any sport is physically demanding. Therefore, doing sports will be quite hard for those who suffered from illness or have a bad physique condition. For instance, in a soccer competition, every athlete have to run for at least one and half hour, if every individuals in a team are not healthy and strong enough, then they will not be able to compete with their rivals. So, the possibility of their fail is bigger than the success.
However, some people have a contradictive view as they believe that the success depends on mental condition. The reason for this is because every athletes have to face a strict regular exercise with the high pressure when preparing for a competition. If the athletes does not have a resilience as a part of mental attitude, they will give up easily on it and fail to give their best performance in the competition due to the lack of exercise.
In my opinion, I believe that sport, especially when it comes to a competition, is not only about physical or mental, but involves both of them. The logic reason for this is without a resilience, a strong and health athlete cannot win the competition because he does not discipline with their daily exercise. On the contrary, without a good physique condition, an athlete also cannot wining it. But, when a person has a good health and mental attitude, then the possibility for their success is bigger.
