Some people believe that governments should allocate more funding to preserving ancient languages, while others argue that resources are better spent on teaching modern foreign languages that are used in global communication. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some people believe that governments should provide more money and services to popularize ancient lamguages, while some argue that resources should be spent on refining edicational services of mordern languages that are used universally. Although the preservation of ancient languages are important for cultural identities of a group, I believe that learning mordern languages plays a more important role between the two.
One primary advantage of prioritizing mordern languages is that this skill can be used to communicate with people across different countries. Universal languages are accepted almost everywhere if there are people of the same ethnicity or culture, which makes communication much more easier. For example, Spanish, a universal language, is spoken by people in Southern America, Spain, Mexico, and much more.
On the other hand, some may argue that providing fundings for learning ancient languages may enrich one’s knowledge about its cultural background. However, learning a universal language can also deepen one’s knowledge in the language’s origins and cultural background. For example, English words are a mix of Latin and Ancient Greek. By breaking down different English words and learning about their original forms, one can learn about the origins and the reasonings behind how these words form. On top of that, ancient languages are not used universally, which means that only a small group of people use it as their main communication language. However, universal languages can be used worldwide, which gives it another benifit.
In conclusion, although funding preservation facilities for ancient languages are important for preserving a group’s culture and values, I believe that providing money towards education on merdern languages that are used univerally would be more useful.
