Someone argues that governments have to invest money in order to improve public streets, while on the other hand some people believe that more money should be spent on developing public transports, making them faster and more efficient. In my opinion roads and public transports are both important. However to decide in which of them is better to spend money, governments have to consider where we are.
In fact ,if we think about big cities ,public transports play a fundamental role in people lifes, for example children have to use them to reach their school and adult to go working. Every day and at every time thounsands of people have to move themselfes from a place over another ,and it could be a problem if everyone uses a car, there will be impossible to move because of traffic. For these reasons I think in cities the best idea could be to spend money on improving public transports.
Instead, if we live in a small town ,surronding by nature and with few inhabitants, I believe roads should always be in good conditions ,because in order to reach any places, like hospitals, schools or supermakets people have to take the car and go to near towns or cities. It is impossible to image many public transports out of cities, firts reason because there are much less people who will use them, so for an economic point of view it could be a problem ,and second reason is that public transport are not meant to travel long distances.
In conclusion I think governments should spend money on both roads and public transports, but they have to deal with the fact that there is a big difference between cities’ and towns’ needs, in cities is more important to have well functioning public transports, while in towns people need streets in good conditions.
