It is often said that the increasing use of computers and mobile phones for communication has a negative effect on young people’s reading and writing skills. I completely agree with this point, and I believe that the internet language and media points are the two major factors involved.
It is undeniable that the internet language has led to a shortage of use in formal writing, it will cause a negative effect when you are writing. For instance, when you are writing a letter to your teacher with internet language, it is kind of impolite to your teacher, and you may give an irrespective expression to your teacher or someone else. In addition, for reading, it will make a confuse if you use too much internet language. When you are reading some lectures or essays, you may misunderstand the meaning of it.
Alongside the influence of internet language, media points are also making some wrong views of young people. For instance, there are so many social media may give views that are totally wrong, and the teenagers can not recognize which is beneficial to them, so when they are reading some professional books or writing to someone, the wrong points will be made by the young person and spread to the other one, and when they are reading the books which help them, they do not think that is right. So some social media really impact some young teenagers in their healthy growth. So that we need to improve young person reading and writing on paper not online.
In conclusion, we are faced with the problem of increasing use of the online devices has a negative effect on the reading and writing skills of young person, and this is often more harmful than beneficial.
