There is an ongoing debate about whether living to 150 years is a desirable aim for people or a complete nightmare. While some argue that it would make our lives happier and simpler, others believe that such changes in humans’ lifespan would led to serious problems in our society. In my point of view, it is a normal process of increasing years of life and it can’t be hindered.
A lot of people are dreaming about living longer, because it would simply reduce their stress of having not enough time for their wishes: traveling, spending time with friends, achieving career goals, and etc.. Living for roughly twice as we live right now will give us a solid amount of time. Consequently, it will improve our well-being and enhance quality of life. For instance, we would have much more time for studying and it won’t have strict frames for education as, for example, bachelors degree has contemporary.
On the other hand, such a long lifespan will have some side effects. People argue that with people living longer than now our population will dramatically increase, and it doesn’t have any advantages. A large occupancy will bring about a damage for our planet: animals, landscapes, resources are not invincible and they also need a place for existence. Our civilization will build new cities, use more and more nature’s scopes due to overpopulation, but that will decrease everything else except for humans.
Personally, I believe that our society will encounter living for 150 years and that is a usual development. Formerly people lived no more that 30 years and for them an idea that a human can be older that that age was something unhinged. In contrast, right now we can’t imagine an old person in their 30s. So meanwhile for someone life for 150 years is a disaster, it always was normal to live longer than in previous century. And I am sure our civilization will resolve problem like overpopulation. For example, we can investigate other planets.
In conclusion, although some people fear a spark off overcrowding, a long lifespan is a great improvement, and people should aim for that. It is possible to find solutions for every problem so we shouldn’t be scared of living to 150.
