It is claimed that there are distinct traits between males and females, making certain jobs more suitable for men, while others are better suited for women. From my perspective, I partially disagree with this school of thought due to some reasons explained in this essay.
On the one hand, there are several factors supporting the disparity in types of jobs that are suitable for each gender. It is clear that men and women have differences in inherent traits. While females may have patience, dexterity, and attention to detail helping them easily handle occupations involving documentary or household chores, stronger physical health and agility allow males to take responsibility for heavier jobs, such as builders and miners. This distinction can lead to better performances during the working process as well as reduce the pressure for both genders.
On the other hand, I believe that there should not be any rule in determining which jobs are for men or women. Job matching is based on qualifications, practical experiences, and professional expertise of workers but not gender. For instance, a woman who dedicates significant time to studying at the university in order to acquire essential knowledge for her future career must be highly appreciated in comparison with other men, with a lower professional level. Additionally, If individuals are limited in their job selections by their gender, not only will this limitation cause inequality, but it also leads to lower work productivity because they can no longer develop their true ability. For example, forcing a doctor not to work in her field but instead to work as a housewife, which may result in mental health problems in the long term, creating bad outcomes.
In conclusion, although there are some jobs that seem to be more suited to each specific gender, I am of the opinion that males and females should be equal in terms of their job selections。
