Ever since its inception, multitasking has become a polarizing topic. There is a widely belief that it plays a pivotal role in enhancing productivity and work effectiveness, whereas others opine that multitasking decrease people’s focus and yield, resulting in undesirable outcomes. Meanwhile, a school of thought holds that constant multitasking may give rise to health deterioration and stress-related issues, which is an enormous obstacle to remain healthy and balanced. All views are justifiable, and from a personal perspective, I side with the first and last statement.

First and foremost, it would be imprudent to downplay the unshaken importance of multitasking. To be specific, it stands to reason that performing a multitude of tasks at once can boost concentration and create invaluable opportunities to improve crucial life skills such as problem-solving and decision-making. Therefore, they will have hands-on experiences to bring their ambition to fruition. For instance, musically inclined youngsters often listen to music, sing along a catchy jingle and finish class assignments at the same time, which will facilitate them to accomplish many tasks in a limited time and cultivate their artistic talents. As a result, they can have a financially viable career as music producers or even famous singer and land other high-paid jobs. Moreover, this can free up their time for more vital priorities and enjoyable activities like hanging out with friends or spending time with family.

Nevertheless, constant multitasking can have adverse implications on individuals’ general health. It is common knowledge that completing multiple tasks for a prolonged time can lead to increased tension levels and mental disorders due to a lack of relaxing time and overwhelming workload. Consequently, they are less inclined to maintain promote a good health and strike a work-life balance. For example, married employees continually doing myriad tasks simultaneously often come under pressure when shouldering responsibilities between hectic work schedules and taking care of their families, causing reduced family and relaxing time.

In a nutshell, I reiterate that multitasking offers substantial benefits in terms of increasing productivity and efficiency, while its dire repercussions on our general well-being and work-life balance. Hence, it is advisable to take it into account with a view to broadening our horizons in the future.
