These days, there is a debate over whether successful people in sport have to be more physically strong or resilient. The opionion about sportsmen having strong physicality is widely considered, while others opposed to that idea, thinking mental strength is more important in sport. In my opinion, although physicality is required in most sports, mental strength is really needed to control themselves to avoid from excitement and emotions in extreme situations.
A fundemantel point to consider is that most people win in some tournaments in sport because of having strong physicality. When they have more physicality compared to their opponents in competitions, they are likely to win, if the judges want to find the possible winner in advance. This is because to win in most of the sports depend on how you are strong. Boxing can be the good case in point. Having intense training makes boxers more physically strong, they can beat their competitors with the big muscels.
On the other hand, the resilience can also lead to the victory. Without the mental strength, it is impossible to win in some sports, even if they are based on physical activities. A sportsmen, who is not mentally tough, cannot manage his or her emotions and excitement, leading to have stress and affect their performance in tournaments. It is scientically proven that 50% of the victory can be achieved by coping with emotions and excitement. Should one is not mentally strong, the chance to win will be still a half of total despite being physically tough.
In conclusion, while both perspectives on this issue present valid points, the role of mental and physical strength in sport should be carefully considered. I am firmly convinced that either physiciality or mental strength plays a key role in successful people’s life in sport, however.in order to cope with stress in extreme cases, they are more needed to be resilient.
