Pollution of land and sea represents an idea that plastic things like shopping bags have to be cancelled fully. I completely agree with this opinion because I believe it is a good way to protect our environment.
There are many reasons why plastic harms our environment. The main reason that it is not biodegradable. This means that significant portion of plastic waste would end up in soil or in water bodies for hundreds of years where would release toxic chemicals that can contaminate our drinking water, which would be danger for humans health. Nowadays it has become one of the biggest pollutions in the world. Furthermore plastics waste is ended up in sea by landfill sites and people damage fish ecosystem. For example marine animals are found to mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and eat them. Sea turtles are on the brink of extinction due to plastic pollution. They eat plastic and do not have any place in stomach for natural food and after are starving. However other sea mammals such as dolphins, sharks, and birds like pelicans and seagulls are trapped in plastic bags and are unable to escape then have been found dead in beaches.
In addition plastic is dumped into the landfill sites does not easily decompose, contributing to long lasting environmental pollution. That’s why we should alleviate threat of plastic shopping bags by reduce their using. We can choose environmentally friendly products like fabric bag made from cotton or jute bag. Also we can tell about plastic pollution to other people. In order to make them aware of plastic bags danger.
In conclusion, plastic bags have so many risks such as harming wildlife life and polluting the environment at this point I strongly believe that their use should not be allowed.
