There are different views on how sport affects social development. While I understand why some people think sport is just a leisure activity, I believe that sport makes an important add to a healthy society.
On the one hand, many people believe that sports play only a secondary role in their lives because they tend to focus on other things in life that they consider more important. Many adults often spend most of their time working and earning money, they only participate in activities of a physical nature during their free time. They may think that playing sports takes up too much time that could be better spent on work. Another reason why many people don’t do sport is that they may not see the connection between improving physical health and increasing mental strength, preventing disease and making life longer. This is maybe because many people still have difficulty accessing knowledge about the benefits that sport can bring to their lives.
On the other hand, I completely agree with those who believe that sports are a important factor in social development. Regular exercise improve physical and mental health and helps improve work performance. Recent search have shown that improved mental health is related to increased work. Another point is that big sporting events have and are creating lots of money. These event also encourage tourism and business activity, bring more job opportunities
In conclusion, many people ignore sports because they do not see the benefit of playing sport in life. However, I agree with those who see sports as a motivation for social development.
