While one school of thought holds that single-sex schools enable students to excel academically, others are of the opinion that mixed schools provide students with essential social skills needed for their future. This essay will first closely examine both viewpoints before concluding that I agree with mixed school are ultimately more beneficial in preparing learners for adult life.
On the one hand, there are good grounds for students being taught in single-sex school. The primary reason is that they can focus more on studying and researching without distraction from intimate relationships.For instance, boys in all-boys schools may feel more comfortable engaging in subjects traditionally seen as less “masculine,” such as literature and the arts. Similarly, girls in all-girls schools might feel more empowered to participate in subjects like mathematics and science without the presence of boys. In addition, single-sex education can enhance the strengths of each gender in the classroom. Students are given many chances to delve deeper into subjects that they have talent in, and distribute for better academic performance.
On the other hand, I side with those who say that it would be more equal to let boys and girls study in the same educational environment. First, students in mixed schools learn about their manners, there are many events and holidays held by school which can promote interaction between two genders. To illustrate, in 8/3 – international women’s day or the Boy’s day in 19/11, all the students will celebrate others of opposite gender, from there, they are learned about communication skills and boosted their solidarity. Moreover, this kind of school mirrors the real world, where everyone collaborates together for work or many different relationships. Learners will have a place to increase their confidence as well as mutual respect.
In conclusion, while there are justifications for studying in single-sex school, I would contend that the benefits of mixed education are far more significant.
