Some individuals think that school children should maintain uniforms, while others argue they should be allowed to have freedom to wear whatever they want. I support the former viewpoint, and in the following paragraphs, I will explore both perspectives and present my opinion.
On the one hand, there are many reasons why uniform should be maintained by students. One of the major reasons is that equality can be ensured among students by wearing uniforms. A student who cannot afford expensive clothes might feel inferior/uncomfortable in the classroom. However, when all the students wear the same uniform, they feel equal despite their financial background. Moreover, uniforms can also increase discipline among students because they have to follow rules about dress codes. As a result, they can focus more on their studies instead of thinking about fashion.
On the other hand, students should have the liberty/freedom to choose their clothes for many reasons. One significant reason is that maintaining uniforms can be costly/expensive in some schools where seasonal dress codes are mandatory for students. Students who are from low-income families may face financial problems. In addition, wearing a uniform in summer is hard for students as temperatures get higher, making it unbearable. Most of the schools do not have air conditioning in their classrooms, which may cause students to suffer. Wearing casual dress in summer is more comfortable than a strict uniform.
In conclusion, although allowing students to choose their own clothes offers greater comfort and freedom, I strongly believe that school uniforms should be mandatory because they promote equality among students and encourage discipline in educational institutions.
