In some studies, people consider that learning a history is such a waste of time while others think that it is essential to be learned. This essay will examine both views and personal opinion from these phenomena.
Views on which learning a history is a waste of time because they think that not all histories are valuable. Some patterns are irrelevant, especially when the individuals are already aware of the implications. For instance, violent demonstrations in Indonesia in April, 2024, which protested against labor constitutional laws, resulted in numerous casualties. This action is obviously a harmful action but it keeps happening during the agreement. Honestly, the violent demonstration basically can alternate in a polite way, so that no more victims are impacted from that.
On the other hand, some people consider that history is essential to learn as it can be a lesson for the future, whether it might prevent any harmful action happening in future. For instance, it can be viewed in the Bali bomb tragedy which exploded by the terrorist in 2001 which impacted more than hundreds of tourist and local victims. In the aftermath of this tragedy, the authorities made several policies aimed at preventing similar incidents, including international and domestic collaboration, to apprehend further suspects. This led to the establishment of Densus 88, a counter-terrorism unit in Indonesia. So, the Densus 88 is actually a team that does some espionage for the further suspects.
