It is argued that diligence and persistence are crucial in deciding success in life. While this notion may be true to a certain extent, others believe that other elements, such as financial conditions and external appearance, may contribute more to the chance of becoming successful. Although both schools of thought hold merit, I endorse the former perspective more.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why determination and hard work are essential drivers of people’s success. Success may come in different shapes or forms, but it primarily requires a person to be a stand-out individual in their work environment. To achieve it, a person must possess a wide range of academic knowledge and years of working experience. As both journeys require intensive endeavor, which can lead to multiple failures, without a strong will and a determination to work hard, some individuals may give up on the first try; consequently, they will not achieve success.
On the other hand, opponents of the previous view advocate that money and appearance play a more vital role in assisting a person to become successful. Although the ability to make money is present, most channels, such as real estate and stock, require a massive amount of foundational cash, which is unnecessary for most people from the underprivileged. As a result, solid financial conditions can open these opportunities, not only consolidating their status as successful individuals but also granting access to superior education and networking opportunities. Furthermore, physical attractiveness can influence career prospects as they have the ability to gather more attention from others around them. For instance, during a job interview with numerous candidates, those who have an aesthetically pleasing outlook can stand out and will be easily memorized by employers, increasing their chances of receiving the job.
In conclusion, notwithstanding the mixed opinions on determining whether wealth and physical are more fundamental factors relating to success, I believe that while these elements may influence certain aspects of success, assiduousness and determination are still of paramount importance.
