In this contemporary age, there has been a notable increase of individuals who believe that the development of technology mitigates the crime rate, while others argue this can exacerbate this problem. From my perspective, I am inclined toward the former.
On the one hand, there are persuasive rationales to support the claim that technological advancement contributes to the increase of crime. Firstly, the development of technology can lead to an increasing cybercrime rate. For instance, with most transactions being implemented online, cyber crimes can exploit this advancement to hack into private data, resulting in financial loss. Moreover, hackers can also illegally use sensitive information and images of internet users, turning them into threats to make profits.
Conversely, I firmly believe that this development offers significant benefits in reducing crime. First and foremost, technological devices such as CCTV allow people to monitor and record every action, making it easier for users to control crimes and determine their identity. This can mitigate anxiety of people in this modern society, where crimes have become more tyrannical. Furthermore, these equipment provide information and support for law enforcement in investigating crimes. For example, lie detector equipment helps police justify crime’ testimony, resulting in preventing future crime.
In conclusion, while there are mixed opinions on whether the advancement of technology helps reduce crime or not, I wholeheartedly believe that this development plays a significant role in deteriorating offenders by enabling users to track down criminals and identify them easily.
