Road accidents have been dramatically increasing in the past few years. That’s why people started to think about some improvements to eradicate or at least constrain this problem. Some believe it is better to increase the legal age for driving, while others believe it is better to work on the road aspect itself not the people driving. Personally, I believe that both are equally important.
Firstly, regarding the minimum age for driving, this suggestion was proposed because multiple tragic road incidents were caused by teenagers. The reason behind that is because some irresponsible teens are more reckless and doesn’t value the consequences of their actions. Canada for example, stated that the minimum age should be raised to 19 instead of 16. Applying that change, it was notable how the road accidents decreased by a considerable amount.
On the other hand, people believe that road maintenance and implementing other techniques may be more beneficial than just limiting the age. One of the suggestions is to use the technology in our favor. Through surveillance cameras, authorities can detect the causes behind accidents and work on eradicating it. One more approach, is by educating individuals how to deal with various surprising situations that may lead to an accident. This can be through media channels or awareness campaigns.
Ultimately, While road accidents are increasing, Governments should spare no effort in eliminating it or at least decrease its incidents. This can be through increasing the minimum age to avoid teenagers rashness, or by working on upgrading road service through various technologies. Personally, I support the second option
