Band 7+: Some people think that the government should fund music, dance and arts lessons for children. Others think that they should be funded by private businesses or by children's families. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There has been a long debate about whether artistic education programs should be funded by the government or private funding. From my perspective, training courses for performing arts should be paid for by businesses and children’s families.

On the one hand, the reasons to argue in favor of public funding vary. To begin with, the proponents of this claim believe that the responsibility of improving cultural talent for the young generation belongs to the entire society. The authorities, therefore, have to represent the people in this endeavor and do whatever necessary to achieve this goal, including allocating the budget to create artistic training classes for minors. If the government attempts this wholeheartedly, furthermore, they can produce the most far-reaching impact on enhancing the youth’s artistic talent, musical and dancing skills. This also brings children an opportunity to pursue their artistic dreams, resulting in prominent future artists who potentially contribute to the entertainment industry.

However, I am of the opinion that funding sources seem more sensible in this regard. One reason is that this may relieve the burden on the government. In fact, if the responsibility of paying for the youth’s artistic education falls upon personal businesses, the authority would be able to prioritize and maintain expenditure on other necessities, such as construction, agriculture and medical care. Importantly, scouting and training new generations of artistic talent is a challenging process whose success is not guaranteed; the expense might grow out of proportions, leading to a lack of finance for other pressing sectors. Another reason is that families and relatives are regarded as the closest people who shine in their ability to discover benefits from their offspring’s artistic skills. It is naturally their role, thus, they are willing to invest in their children’s artistic performances.

In conclusion, although the government should invest in the young’s artistic training, I assert that businesses and families are more well-suited for this role.
