Recently, the conflagration between Pakistan and Israel has greatly drawn international attention. The simmering conflict has led to two opposing views: one side argues that war is justified under specific circumstances, while the other believes that there are various peaceful ways to address issues between countries. As far as I am concerned, priority should be given to the latter. This essay will examine both views and provide the rationale behind my perspective.
Some opponents argue that war is the most effective and time-efficient way to handle conflicts between countries. This is because war doesn’t require the considerable time spent on negotiation and can lead to a quick resolution based on the level of military strength. Additionally, the defeated country is forced to obey all protocols set by the victorious country, even if some are unequal.
Although war may seem like the most powerful way to resolve international conflicts, it actually has many drawbacks that are often ignored by politicians. Firstly, war results in the sacrifice of many lives due to the use of dangerous weapons such as missiles, which goes against ethical principles. Moreover, war consumes a large amount of money for weapon production and rebuilding after the conflict, which leads to economic decline.
Therefore, it is unwise and unreasonable to adopt war as the primary method for dealing with international conflicts. There are various peaceful ways to resolve them. For smaller countries without strong military power, they can work together to enhance their comprehensive strength and gain the right to negotiate with larger countries. Furthermore, they can seek help from the United Nations (UN), using its influence as a deterrent to prevent war.
In conclusion, it is evident that using war is unwise as it leads to high mortality and economic decline. Therefore, it is imperative for politicians to abandon their intransigence and embrace more peaceful methods to resolve international conflicts.
