In recent times, it has widely been believed by some people that strict rules ought to be introduced to control noise in society. Conversely, there are some others who claim that people must have the freedom to make as much noise as they want. This essay will discuss both views and explain why I believe some level of noise control is necessary.
First and foremost, it is an undeniable fact that many people think noise should be controlled by laws and regulations. Moreover, excessive noise can seriously affect people’s health and daily life. For example, loud music, traffic, or construction work may disturb sleep, reduce concentration, and increase stress levels. Thus, students and workers often find it difficult to focus due to noisy environments. In addition, people living in crowded cities may suffer from constant noise pollution if there are no clear limits. Therefore, governments should set rules to protect public peace and improve the quality of life.
On the other hand, the next point to deem is that some people believe individuals should be free to make noise whenever they want. Furthermore, they argue that people have the right to enjoy themselves and express their lifestyle freely. For instance, celebrations, festivals, and social events are important parts of culture and entertainment. Hence, supporters of this view also think that strict noise laws may limit personal freedom and create unnecessary restrictions on people’s activities.
In my opinion, although freedom is important, there should also be reasonable controls on people who create a great deal of noise. That is, people must consider others around them, especially in residential areas and during night time. However, the rules should be balanced so that people can still enjoy celebrations and public events at suitable times.
In conclusion, while some people support complete freedom regarding noise, I believe strict but fair regulations are necessary to maintain public health and social harmony.
