When it comes to the issue of importance of knowledge and skills for university student a significant number of inhabitants stand with different kinds of views. While a good number of individuals tend to with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others seem to, university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer. However, I am going to outline both sides of this issue prior to giving a reasoned conclusion.

On the one hand, a great number of merits come from the first statement in many ways. The first and foremost point is that, I believe it is true that universities should provide students with skills and knowledge relevant to a specific career in the workplace. To cite an example, an individual who attends law school should graduate with a sound knowledge of law policies, and be ready to provide useful service in that field upon graduation. Another Worth mentioning point is that, universities should also encourage innovation and exploration. To give an example, Society depends on university graduates to bring their specialised expertise to law offices, schools, businesses, banks, and many, many other fields across both the public and private sectors. Last but not least, Universities serve an important function in society, providing and encouraging education and higher learning.

However, it also seems to be more likely to come up with a couple of advantages from the second statement. To begin with, once an individual graduates and gets a job, he or she will be less likely to have the time or resources to pursue knowledge for its own sake. For example, when I was a university student working towards a Bachelor of Arts in English, I took classes in psychology, astronomy and also music. Another most striking point is that, I value these experiences greatly, since each of those classes expanded my knowledge. Moreover, learning subjects that are not useful for students careers would render them have a job adapting to the environment at work, which increases the probability of them being dismissed.

To sum up, having illustrated both sides of this affair, I would like to state my opinion that I strongly agree with the first statement as it comes up with a good number of merits.
