Band 5+: Some people think that with the increasing use of mobile phones and computers, lose the ability to communicate face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, with the technical advancements, some people have content that the communication skills and passion are in declined. However, I do not believe that the prevelence of electronic device may cause the lack of ability of communication face to face. The main factor that cause the problem is the education system which focus on academic performance too much, surpressing the passion of students to find their interest. Moreover, social media can gather individuals with common interest together and they can meet offline.

Interest is one of the most effective way to gather people together. People would like to meet others with common interest. However, the current education system emphasize significantly on the academic performance of students. As the result, it is difficult for pupils to cultivate their habits, such as sports. After they guranduate, they may realize their disadvantages in involving in a group of people with commen interest. For example, this problem is significant in China. Young employees feel lonely after work since they do not have any habits or interests, spending time on screen become the only way to get rid of bored.

Some criticals comment that social media may be too attractive and might take enormous time and energy, leading that individuals might addict to their screen and not hang out with friends. However, people can find and explore their interests via social media and meet their internet friends offline. For instance, anime or movie fans can share their oppoions on some artworks in the group chat. Some of them organize events such as anime fair and other enthusiastists can join the activities. Individuals with commen interest can communicate with each other face to face and exchange their ideas in these events. Hence, telecommunicating devices have positive impact on communication skills.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that the grade-orinated education system is the primary factor of declining communication ability. Although phones and computer might be detrimental to communication skills to some extent, social media play a positive role in gathering people with commen interests and enhancing communicative skills.
