It is considered by some that governments should contribute to fruits and vegetables. While some people argue that governments should impose high taxes on unhealthy food, I believe that health food should be supported financially by governments. In this essay, I will discuss both these views in support of the former.
On the one hand, there can be several reasons why some believe that increasing the cost of junk food is the most efficient way to prevent people from consuming unhealthy food. To elaborate, eating fast food can lead to some health issues, such as obesity and stomach pain. To illustrate, more than 65% of Azerbaijani people suffer from obesity. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the prices for junk foods are cheaper than healthy ones. In other words, people prefer to eat unhealthy food after work, since it is comfortable, cheap and delicious compared to fruits and vegetables. As a result, most people opt for eating unhealthy food on a daily basis.
On the other hand, I would side with those who argue that fruits and vegetables should gain a financial support from governments. The underlying reason behind this is that eating healthy food lifts people’s moods, while junk food puts a strain on individuals. For instance, if people consume fruits and vegetables daily, they will be more focused on their work. Moreover, we cannot overlook the fact that choosing a healthy diet can solve an issue of infertility. What I mean by this is that consuming healthy foods increase the level of testosterone, since fruits and vegetables contain a lot of vitamins. Therefore, governments should encourage people to eat more fruits and vegetables by making them affordable for all people in a country.
In conclusion, some people believe that imposing high taxes on junk food is more beneficial. However, I believe that subsidizing health food is the best way.
