People have different views about whether we are more or less dependent on others nowadays. I strongly concur the view, positing these days people have become more independent.
On the one hand, some individuals justifiably argue that, in today’s world, because of technological advancement, people have become more independent on each other. Making everything accessible, technology brings autonomy into human life, which can lead to more productive and independent societies. Even hobbies, for example, become more individual, so humans do not need each other to spend leisure time together. From a psychological standpoint, if people worked in isolation without other’s consideration, they would tend to be more cheerful and progress easily, which means, other’s intervention may impede individuals development.
On the other hand, there are those who contend that depending on each other is an inherent necessity of contemporary world. In another words, creating more tension and anxiety, fact-paced lifestyles need support by others. They claim that, people have to share their sorrows with others, failure to do so could result in depression, necessitating medical intervention. However, I find this argument unconvincing as many programs and You Tube channels, the result of technology, can educate people on how to deal with a rat-pace lifestyle. Many advanced societieis, for instance, have reported achieving a sense of independence and self-reliance.
In conclusion, it is my view that, nowadays, people have the ability to become more self-reliant because of contemporary technological development, which can lead to personal growth without seeking support from others.
