Band 8+: Some people think the modern world we are more dependent in each other, while others think that people have become more independent. Discuss the both view and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Ideas remain divergent on whether people now have a tendency to be more reliant on others or not. Although both schools of thought offer rationales, I tend toward the latter suggestion. Both perspectives will be discussed in this essay.

On the one hand, the argument that some are inclined to depend on each other is reasonable to some extent. To begin with, this phenomenon might result from a significant rise in living expenses for rental houses. For instance, students nowadays tend to share rental housing with others or live in the dormitories of their schools and universities, helping them save a lot of money. Moreover, the mounting demand for networking is likely to be a contributing factor leading to this trend. According to some researchers, connection is one of people’s fundamental needs because most individuals require communication and admiration from others.

On the other hand, there are two main reasons why I believe the opposite side of these viewpoints. Firstly, it is undeniable that the development of technology is attributed to this phenomenon. For example, robots with artificial intelligence could replace people to complete tasks such as household chores or red-collar work, eliminating the need for dependence on human resources. Secondly, this is also considered a form of education. This is on the grounds that many parents want to instill independence and self-care skills in their offspring at a young age. As a result, they might develop better and have enough ability to address their problems on their own.

In conclusion, although a rise in living expenses and the demand for networking lead to the tendency of people to rely on each other, I hold the view that most individuals are likely to have an independent life because of the advancement of technological devices and a method of nurturing children.
