There has been controversy about whether authorities should allocate money on other planets exploration. Some opine that it is unnecessary to spend money on this field because there are numerous issues exsisting around the world. While both views are justifiable to some extent, I lean towards the latter opinion.
Admittedly, it is understandable that some advocate for the necessity of space exploration to look for life. Firstly, this new finding may result in a new prospective living space with a fresher environment for the Earth population. This is because there are increasingly detrimental effects on the ecosystem due to the industrialization of all over the world, leading to many pollutions such as air pollution and water pollution. Moreover, exploring other parts of the universe lays the foundation for solutions to cope with overpopulation. Take, for example, Ha Noi, which is just north of 3000 square meters city, now is one of the most overpopulated cities in the world, resulting in lack of accommodation for entire citizens. If Vietnamese government invest in these astronomy areas, they can find a measure for this problem.
However, I would argue that investment in out-of-Earth space is just suitable for developed countries, it is not the case for developing nations. The rationale behind my opinion is that only strong-position countries, such as the US or Russia, have enough money and human resouces to engage in the other planets’ exploration. Therefore, they can easily manufacture and monitor a wide range of tools aimed at finding out-of-world areas. This is not the case with poorer countries, they should allocate their public budget to address some other societal challenges rather than expending money on the universe exploration. For instance, instead of speding on implementing other planets’ research, Viet Nam government fund on the educational improvement to have more skilled workforce, leading to growth in the national economy.
In conclusion, it is true that governments should spend money on exploring other planets because it may help us with coming up with solutions for the increasingly polluted environment and lack of accommodation. Meanwhile, I firmly believe that this practice is just appropriate with developed countries because they have a great financial power.
