Opinions are divided on whether music exerts a beneficial impact on society or whether it is not such a crucial field, but rather a form of entertainment. While I may acknowledge the reasons behind the latter view, I still firmly support the former.
Those who believe that music is solely a form of relaxation may have several arguments. From their perspective, listening to music just helps them reduce stress after a long day of working or studying. This gives rise to a stereotype that music is just something fun for them, resulting in a narrow insight into what they listen to every day. Another possible argument is that they take the view that the labour field related to music brings a lower income compared to several trending jobs, such as technology, design, or marketing. Therefore, they may not pay attention to other aspects of music but its relaxation.
Nevertheless, I still hold the belief that the benefits music brings are even more significant. Chief among these is that music contributes to cultural identity. In fact, each nation has differences in natural conditions, religions, and lifestyles, resulting in their music containing various materials from their life. A listener, for example, can somehow detect where a song comes from, especially through the melodies, rhythms and vocals, meaning that music is advantageous to cultural identity. The second reason is that the music industry can be considered a valuable source of income. A case in point is the K-pop industry, which generates significant profits from their admirers by convincing them to purchase picture cards, lightsticks, and especially with admission fees to concerts.
In conclusion, it is understandable why some may argue that music revolves around the kind of relaxation. However, I would take the view that there are many beneficial impacts from music.
