In recent times, it has become increasingly common for some shops to be open 24/7, particularly in city centers. While there are clear drawbacks for this situation in terms of safety, I believe the positive consequences deserve equal importance.
Critics of shops with extended hours cite various reasons to support their stance. Longer shopping hours might be unsafe in some places, mainly where there are not many people and the streets are dark. This can increase the chance of crimes, like robbery and harassment, and may also put employees who work at night in danger when traveling home late. These safety concerns might discourage citizens from visiting at night, which ultimately reduces the company’s income. In a world where a great deal of crime is happening, mainly in urban areas, longer shops might not be appealing for customers to access overnight, therefore creating many disadvantages for staff and a company.
Nevertheless, I believe that positive outcomes of shops open 24/7 should also be taken into consideration. If shops are open 24/7, it creates convenience for customers, allowing individuals to shop anytime, day or night, especially for those who work for long hours. For example, in Uzbekistan, people in logistics are compelled to work during late hours so long as accessible shops can provide them with essential products, such as food and drink, which are not typically available at night. As a result, this can create more employment opportunities for staff who prefer night shifts, helping them earn enough to cover their expenses. In addition, shops that are open for extended hours can attract more customers, leading to higher sales, thereby enhancing the company’s economic stability as a whole.
In conclusion, although the shops that are open for extended hours can bring about some disadvantages in terms of safety, I believe their advantages, like convenience for customers, increased job opportunities, and the company’s economy, outweigh them.
