Some individuals claim that high-risk sports like skydiving and rock climbing should not be allowed. From my perspective, I disagree with this statement. It questions the rights of the human in terms of liberty and with following safety rules actual risks can be significantly reduced.
Firstly, banning extreme sports would violate individual freedom. Adults have the right to make informed decisions about their own lives, as long as they do not endanger others. Skydivers and climbers are fully aware of the potential consequences, yet they willingly accept the risk for the sake of excitement and personal growth. If society tolerates dangerous activities like smoking or speeding, it should also respect the choice to practise extreme sports.
Secondly, following modern safety rules drastically reduces the actual danger. Professional training, routine equipment checks, and reserve parachutes have made skydiving far safer than it appears. According to official statistics, the fatality rate per jump is lower than that per car journey. Therefore, rather than banning these sports, authorities should focus on enforcing strict safety standards and compulsory licensing.
In conclusion, while extreme sports like skydiving and rock climbing carry inherent risks, banning them would be an unjustified overreaction. Adults have the right to make informed choices about their own lives, and strict adherence to modern safety procedures significantly reduces the actual danger. Instead of prohibition, authorities should focus on proper regulation – mandatory training, equipment certification, and medical checks. This approach respects individual freedom while minimising harm, which is far more reasonable than an outright ban.
