The question of whether university students can study other subjects except their major or whether they only need to focus on their syllabus has been a subject of considerable debate. This essay will explore both sides of the argument before reaching a conclusion.
On one hand, many pupils believe that they can study their university courses with managing extra time for other subjects willing to learn. It is obvious that many individuals have several subjects of interest as they dreamed to be someone by choosing specific field along with that, fulfilling their hobbies by gaining knowledge of other fields is noticable. For example, a person who is majoring engineering, have another field of interest like to learn acting so he/she would also like to take classes of arts. Furthermore, it is essential for students to fulfill their willingness by attending different learning activities, thereby leading to significant growth of real-world knowledge and also personal development.
On the other hand, others argued that they only want to be qualified in a subject which they already selected for career. There are numerous benifits of being perfect in one field. For instance, to be a doctor, students need to focus on medical field, ensuring their future in this field. If medical students have the desire or some interest in political subject, it will never assure their career as doctor; neither politician.
In conclusion, while both views have valid arguments, I believe that although learning subjects from out-of-curriculum has some advantages, such as personal development and a wide range of real-world knowledge, it is crucial for pupils to be specified on their degree as it is not just a subject for them; but also a future.
