From our banking needs to smartphone cameras, space applications play a bigger part than most people give them credit for. Additionally, applications such as satellites and remote sensing are being recognized for their crucial roles in combating some of Earth’s most vexing problems, including climate change, natural disaster prevention, and protecting national security.
Secondly, space exploration is about international collaboration. Compelled by the gargantuan expenses involved, states are encouraged to work together instead of in tandem in space projects, often joining forces and contributing their expertise and resources to deliver a mission. The stability of international relations when it comes to space exploration is not seemingly impeded by Earth’s geopolitical considerations, as seen in the case of unwavering collaboration between the United States and Russia in the manning of the International Space Sation in the face of the ongoing Ukrainian conflict.
Last but not least, outer space remains the center of mankind’s imagination – the subject of our cosmos fixation. In exploring space, we look to a higher cause than the mundane nature of our existence – the search for a sentient being similar to us in the vast array of stars or learn more about our origin. These are not ordinary causes, and the fact that it is expensive should not deter the human species from the ultimate knowledge.
