It is often argued that students should concentrate on learning in the classroom instead of showing off their status by wearing expensive clothes. This is why all students have to wear school uniforms. I completely disagree with this statement for several reasons.
It is clear that students academic performance does not depend on their appearance. So, schools should not pay too much attention to what students wear and should estimate them only by their knowledge and abilities. Japan, for instance, is a country that has introduced a new rule in school which related with uniform. There students can wear whatever they are comfortable with. As a result they usually perform better than students who have to wear school uniform
Some people believe that school uniforms prevent students from comparing themselves with each other and help them focus on learning. They also think that wealthy students will not show off their expensive clothes in front of those from less wealthy families. However, in my personal opinion, this is not a good reason to make uniforms necessary because clothes should be about comfort and confidence rather than status or knowledge.
To sum up all above mentioned reasons, school uniforms should not be compulsory, especially for teenagers because this is the age when their personalities start to develop, and schools should not prevent them from expressing themselves.
