Opinions are divided on whether students should cover/bear the entire cost of university education because it only/primarily brings advantages to them. While there are merits to this proposition, i disagree considering the upsides of society with well educated citizens.
Proponents of students covering the full educational expenses argue that a bachelor’s degree might equip individuals with specialized knowledge and skills in their chosen field, leading to the possibilities of getting higher paying jobs as well as career advancements. For instance, the majority of people with financial security had been in universities. Another possible argument is that universities will retain more budget that may be allocated to the infrastructures as well as improving the teaching quality, thereby directly benefiting students as a whole.
Forefront among these is the increased exposure to university education for people from different financial backgrounds as those who are underprivileged can be relieved from the burden/pressure of the expensive tuition. In this case, the well educated proportion of the population would surge, resulting in innovation, research and technological advancements, thus bringing long term economic progression. Additionally, the subsidizing of university education also aids students with relieving their stress by shifting their focus from the studying fee to their lessons, thereby achieving more knowledge that can be utilized to positively impact society.
In conclusion, although university education does offer numerous benefits to individuals, the advantages will also extend society as a whole, considering the elevated opportunities for tertiary education regardless of financial backgrounds as well as the enhanced studying performance that stems from the relief of burdens of tuition.
