It is clear that we all experience excitement when we find ourselves in a new environment, and the host family will also have excitement, perhaps even distrust towards a child from a different background. Getting to know another environment is experienced not only by the student but also by the host-family.
I think that I have certain character traits that will help me adapt to their rules in a short time. Such as: curiosity and the ability to get out of the comfort zone.
The first day in the camp, everything is strict, everything must be under the supervision of the counselor. I was in such circumstances for the first time, early wake up, everything according to the schedule. And at home I had comfort, when I wanted I woke up, when I wanted I ate, and whatever I wanted was at my fingertips. But, not here. The counselor was strict, 1 minute late to the morning exercise , removal from the pool. And I tried to adapt to the rules, to join others, and to ask everything that I did not understand.
And so, in three days I fixed my routine, I woke up exactly at 6:00 am, shower, exercise, and then visiting different clubs. I was interested in everything, after all it is a whole month without parents, the phone is forbidden, and only strict discipline. Over time I got used to it, even started to like it.
I believe that being curious in moderation is not bad, but on the contrary cool, and to the host-family it shows that you are interested in their life. Something not understood ? l can ask and try to adapt. And also, to have incredible expectations from strangers is not right. After all, familiarization with another culture, and always being in society is a huge benefit for the foundation of my future.
