Being a professional athlete is a dream for many people who are interested in particular sports. It is an undeniable truth that successful athletes can get higher pay by doing or playing their desirable sports than white-collar workers. Although it is often said that it is acceptable, it seems unfair for others. I believe that this is a fair way and worth their sacrifices.
First and foremost, people who master in their fields of sports have been through a lot of practices and mental health problems. For example, being a representative for their country as an Olympian is not an easy job. This is because they spend their time mostly on practicing and have a lot of pressure. They have to stick to the rules and discipline in order to perform better. In addition, it is not only that they also get through some mental issues such as anxiety and depression because of the achievements they need to get. Therefore, getting higher pay is the best method to pay for their resilience and sacrifices.
Furthermore, even though some people argue that this is unfair for doctors, nurses, and teachers; others and I are convinced that professional athletes can earn more money because they tend to join an international competition. Despite the salary, the government also supports them in the form of giving bonuses and incentives after winning the international competition. In Indonesia, for instance, the government gives a bonus to the first winner or gold medalist in 2,5 billion rupiahs. By doing this, they can earn more money than other office workers by joining just one competition.
In conclusion, I believe that professional olympians can make more money because of their sacrifices, disciplines, and resilience. Thus, it is worth and quite justified.
