Recently, technology has greatly changed the way we live and work. Even though this change has multiple advantages, I think its disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
Speaking of the advantages, technology has evolved the way we communicate. Cellphones have become a tool where people can speak with someone, can work to create documents on them, and finally get access to the internet. Transport has developed fast, so nowadays we have automatic or non-driver cars on the streets with which people no more needed to learn traffic rules to get and ride a car. Another example of advantage is video software allowing people work remotely from their homes. Applications like Zoom, Microsoft Bing and Google Meets provide a video and conference call to anyone, so there is no more need to go to the office to work. That is why nowadays, more companies choose remote work mode and allow their employees work from home.
Now, after we looked at the advantages of the technological advancement, let’s look at its disadvantages. Firstly, people have started loosing the ability of communicating face-to-face. Since everyone uses a cellphone and messengers online, most people prefer to text someone, instead of meeting them to talk. Secondly, driverless cars cause more accidents on the roads creating a risk to drivers and pedestrians, because the technology is too new and could not behave as a human to drive safely. Lastly, technology makes people feel alone, because most of people prefer to stay home in front of their computers to watch movies or play video games. Such approach involves more time spent at home instead of going out to socialize and meet with family members and friends.
To summarize, technology is being developed so fast, that people sometimes cannot realize how to carefully use those devices and applications. As a result, people enticed by excessive usage of technology become isolated and less social active. Therefore, in my opinion, the disadvantages of technological change outweigh its advantages.
