Nowadays leaders of all kinds are generally younger than in the past. In fact, if we look at the heads of the biggest companies, they are mostly young.
One of the reasons for that is better access to information and education in the modern world. Becoming a leader requires a lot of relevant knowledge and experience. In the past, there was no Internet and education was not that widespread, so one could gain experience only through hard work. Today everyone can obtain almost any information from the Internet and learn from it efficiently using a modern education system. Therefore, the younger generation is able to reach the same level of education as older people or even compete with them and become better leaders.
Another reason for that is that the world is changing much faster each year. In today’s world we have many more changes than in the past, and the pace is only growing. Thirty years ago, the Internet appeared. More recently, neural-network technology and artificial intelligence became widespread. The older generation cannot keep up with all of the new technologies, and that is why people rely more heavily on younger leaders.
In my opinion, this is a positive trend. It is true that modern leaders have less life experience than in the past because they are younger. But on the other hand, their ability to adapt and learn is much
greater, and I think it is more important. A leader must make important decisions which are hard to make in a rapidly changing world. Adaptability and a flexible mindset matter more than life experience derived from past events.
