In contemporary world, leaders of various sectors are relatively younger than used to be in the previous centuries. This tendency is mainly related to accelerated process of globalization and changing set of values among people. I firmly believe that this is certainly an advantageous development.
In contrast to 20th century when leaders among almost all fields were senior man backed by decades of experience, nowadays’ leaders are tend to be more younger. The primary reason for that is ongoing globalization and change of beliefs among individuals. The ideas of democracy and liberalism, which spread into almost all countries by 21th century, clearly promote the participation of younger generation in political and social life. Thereby, the spread of these ideas and transformations of former conservative countries into westernized and liberal states influenced youngsters to actively engage into all sectors of the state. Moreover, prevalence of these values impacted the changes on people’s attitude towards leadership. An illustrative example is primarily muslim countries. Before cross-cultural exchanges with western world, citizens of these states were highly conservative and opposed any attempts of young activists to came into power. However, fast-paced spread of democratic ideas positively impacted these minds, moving towards more liberal views. As a result, more representatives of younger generation started gaining leadership, leading to modernization of institutions and statehood.
While the critics of this tendency argue that this is a negative development for our society, I strongly contend this trend. More younger minds in charge of important sectors mean more fresh and innovative ideas. For instance, Zohran Mamdani who is 33 years old, became New York’s new mayor at the beginning of 2026. He has already showed substantial results, by resolutely solving the majority of socioeconomic and infrastructural problems. His decisive policies led to ultimate budget stabilization, reduction of crime rates, and serious infrastructural modifications. This case shows us that younger professionals among diverse sectors may be highly efficient, offering an innovative decisions which ultimately improve people’s lives. Skeptics may assert that these are only temporary improvements, and rich experience of senior people will eventually outscore youngsters. However, as practice shows, experience is not always a guarantee of wisdom and calculated reforms. Conversely, the solutions that younger minds offer may sometimes outperform the experienced professionals’ proposals.
In conclusion, contemporary world has seen a tendency of younger generations often overtaking executive positions for last years. This trend is mainly caused by the aforementioned globalization and changing perceptions among all populace. While there is a scepticism about it, I strongly believe that this is an imperative development that significantly improves our life.
