The demand and supply of residential building has been a serious problem in different cities and nation, when we talk about the solution of the shortage of land, most of the people choose to transfer the nature side to houses therefore to reach to the demand. However, it will only bring irreversible consequences to the society. In the following, I will first illustrate the disadvantages of this decision from a family or society perspective, then to the environment one.
Nature environment provides a chance for citizen to build up bonding through making the collective memories. Back in the days, families and friends used to go to the country park or somewhere near the nature during weekends, as there has a larger place to play, to rest, to sing or do whatever they want but far away from the countryside with fast pace of life. Those days not only becomes a precious memory for children’s childhood, but also an important place of adults to relax. Losing the parks might seized away the chance of people’s life and also a place for a community to create collective memories.
For the environment perspective, once we mindlessly replace the nature with houses, ecological imbalance of the city might occur. Parks and farmlands not only serve as a place for people to go during leisure time but also supporting people’s health with by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing fresh air. Under globalization and the rapid development of the city, more and more industry has built and therefore to produce air, light pollution to the city. Those green side of the country is there to maintain the eco-balance of the place, if they were moved out of the city, the development of the city might go backwards instead of being better.
In conclusion, replacing parks and farmlands with houses might solve the immediate problem of housing, but the consequences behind is too way heavy than what we can bear on.
