Opinions are divided on whether scientists should collaborate with others to do research or whether this synergy may cause negative consequences. While there are rational premises behind the former view, I am still in favour of the latter.
On the one hand, those who believe that researching together is more efficient than discovering by oneself state that scientific collaboration can enhance residents’ life. Through synergy, participants can gain deeper knowledge in all areas via the discussions and also recognize their drawbacks to improve. Especially, it boostsboost scientists’ productivity and they may have more opportunities to discover breakthroughs. By these beneficial discoveries, it positively impacts on producing more cutting-edge technologies in the community, which contributes to elevating the inhabitant’s life.
On the other hand, I still side with the idea that there are potential risks when working together because scientific achievements could be deprived of their partners. With social advancement, it leads to a competitive workforce, which is challenging to get success through inventions. This situation raises jealousy among the participants in many successful scientific synergies, because working alone will obtain a substantial amount of money rather than doing together. As a result, their partner may deprive scientific achievements, which can negatively impact on the other’s mental health, leading to issues such as depression.
In conclusion, despite acknowledging many reasons why people think that there are considerable advantages to collaborative research, I still hold the belief that it can pose severe circumstances, which prevent social growth.
