Band 5+: Technology is being used more and more in education. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages.

The modern life is changing every day and technologies used in education are a great example of this trend. There are many different opinions related to this topic, but I believe that all aspects should be considered very carefully.

First of all, I would like to discuss the advantages of the approach and start with my personal experience. When I studied at school, there was no Internet available in my classroom or library, so it was very difficult to get some specific information for your study or you had to spend hours searching for it in the books. Nowadays, it’s much easier and you can obtain all the data you need within minutes instead of hours even staying at home! The PCs are available everywhere and students can work with texts and figures, creating beautiful presentations, analysing data and doing advanced research projects. So from this point of view, I can see only benefits in implementing modern technologies in education.

If we speak about disadvantages of this approach, I would like to mention that wide usage of modern technologies can be harmful for younger generation as it may affect their power of imagination and creativity. Now people can easily access ChatGPT and ask the AI to generate a text, essay or even a simple dissertation. The modern computer tools are becoming more and more powerful every day, but from other side they make people more lazy and more dependent on tools e.g. Personal Computes, Internet, Wikipedia, Smartphones and other gadgets.I would even suggest to limit the usage of some technologies in specific situation e.g. exams, lessons, and presentations.

As conclusion, I see great benefits in using modern technologies in the education process, but I would prefer to implement and use it very carefully and encourage young people to use more their brains instead of being dependent on gadgets
