Nowadays, animal species are at the edge of extinction. This is because a large number of people are carrying out several catastrophic activities on land and in the sea. However, there are some possible solutions to tackle this issue, such as imposing heavy taxes on individuals who damage the natural environment. In this essay, I will explain why animals are at risk of being wiped out and propose effective approaches to mitigate this problem.
Animals are among the most valuable creatures living on Earth. However, many of them are dying out due to the actions of people. Logging, for instance, is one of the major factors leading to this trend, since the majority of humans cut down trees recklessly, which in turn diminishes the supply of animals’ food. As a result of this situation, many fauna may suffer from starvation, such as deer and birds. If this situation continues, we could encounter a serious issue in the near future. To tackle this issue, the government should implement policies such as imposing taxes on loggers. Moreover, the officials ought to incentivize citizens to plant more trees. This initiative provides animals with sufficient food, ensuring the survival of species. As a consequence, by enforcing penalties and introducing tree planting schemes, the government can help animals survive on land.
On the other hand, marine life is regularly being contaminated, which may cause the extinction of ocean species. Given that over eight million tonnes of waste plastics are discarded annually, seabirds and massive whales consume these plastics unintentionally. This leads to digestive issues in their stomachs. For instance, a group of scientists from New Zealand discovered numerous dead whales in coastal areas, as they had eaten a huge amount of rubbish, which had blocked their digestive systems. The primary purpose of mentioning this is to raise awareness regarding the loss of ocean biodiversity. If governments place a greater emphasis on launching regulations such as alleviating water pollution and ensuring the protection of ocean animals, they could help save both marine life and water quality.
In conclusion, although both terrestrial and marine life are at risk of extinction, there are several effective measures to address these issues, such as taxes. Therefore, my solution to these problems is to restore their natural habitats. By increasing forest areas and conserving ecosystems, we can preserve these creatures before they disappear completely.
